Rahna’s statement about the passage of the Senate

“This bill will save lives. For that alone, it’s worth celebrating. For once, Congress is proposing more than ‘thinking and praying’. Let’s be clear: this is the most significant measure of gun violence that Congress has enacted in two decades. This bill is an important step. But it is also just the beginning of what our nation needs to take seriously the crisis of tragic gun violence.

“As we saw with the Supreme Court ruling yesterday, the most extreme elements of the Republican Party want to flood our streets, our schools, our grocery stores and our places of worship with more guns and less security.” It is offensive, shameful and dangerous. And it shows that we still have to cut our work for ourselves.

“Millions of Movon members have signed petitions, called, rallied in the streets and listened to their voices over the years in support of the gun protection system. They will continue to push for a ban on assault-weapons and for an expanded Supreme Court that will restore balance, break right-wing repression and ensure that states have the power to help keep their residents safe. We will continue to mobilize our members to support candidates who prioritize the health and well-being of Americans over gun lobbies and extremist Republicans. ”
